About Jean

Jean Donati, M.Ac., L.Ac., PA-C, is a highly experienced acupuncturist and certified physician assistant who brings together Eastern and Western medicine to provide thoughtful, individualized care.

She has been recognized as Best Acupuncturist in her area for three consecutive years and received an “Unexpected Hero” award for using CPR and an AED to save a young girl's life in a public setting. Her work reflects both clinical skill and a deep commitment to caring for others.

Jean earned her master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now Notre Dame of Maryland University) in 2000. She has also been a Certified Physician Assistant since 1992. She is licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She maintains her physician assistant certification to stay current in conventional medical care and to better understand her patients’ diagnoses, allowing her to thoughtfully integrate Eastern and Western approaches into each individualized treatment plan.

In her acupuncture practice, Jean treats a wide range of conditions, with a focus on:

  •  musculoskeletal pain and sports injuries

  •  stress, anxiety, and depression

  •  neurological conditions

  •  women’s health

She has helped patients find relief from conditions such as low back pain and sciatica, migraines, insomnia, IBS, carpal tunnel, rotator cuff injuries, vertigo, and menstrual concerns, and has supported couples navigating fertility challenges.

Jean has a special interest in supporting caregivers, including healthcare providers, first responders, and family caregivers. She understands firsthand how important it is to feel supported and cared for while giving so much to others.

She also offers microneedling for hair restoration and facial rejuvenation, helping improve fine lines, scarring, and overall skin tone. Her interest in this work began after experiencing hair loss following COVID, which she was able to restore through microneedling treatments.

When you work with Jean, you can expect a calm, comfortable environment, focused attention, and a gentle, effective approach. She does not double book, and you will have her full presence throughout your session.

Jean’s path to acupuncture began as a patient. After a car accident, she struggled with chronic low back pain for 8 or 9 years and turned to acupuncture as a last option. She found lasting relief from her back pain, and this experience is what made her realize she wanted to become an acupuncturist. She felt so cared for during her treatments and she felt that this was missing from her work as a PA.

Beyond the physical improvement from acupuncture, Jean noticed she felt calmer, more at ease, and more like herself again. That experience shaped how she practices today.

She believes in treating the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, and in addressing the root cause of symptoms rather than just managing them. Her goal is to support your body’s natural ability to heal and to help you feel more balanced, resilient, and well.

Outside of the clinic, Jean enjoys spending time with her family, figure skating, ballet, and yoga.

Jean looks forward to working with you and supporting your health.
